The kids and I are all going to get serious about daily physical exercise and we’re using The President’s Challenge to give us a kick start. The goal is 60 minutes a day of activity (30 for adults), at least 5 days a week, for 6 weeks. We can also use pedometers some days, and […]

We’ve learned and done the past couple of days…
1. Victoria bought a skateboard and has been learning to ride. She’s letting Jack and Anna try too.
2. We went to Marshall and visited some homeschool friends. The kids played baseball, made marble runs, pretended to cook and about 104 other things until we finally dragged them […]

We held our own Olympics yesterday!
The kids started by picking a country to represent and finding its flag on the “flags of the world” poster to copy. They carefully made flags and we taped them to the front of their shirts.
I helped them make 15 medals (gold, silver and bronze for 5 sports). We cut […]

We’re having a family Olympic event here later today! The kids are going to make medals and then they’re going to compete in various sports like discus (frisbee), running and the long jump.

Victoria did some math pages to earn extra computer time.
The kids’ computer is hooked up to the net now in the living room and Anna instant […]

Anna and I are still reading “Pollyanna” at bedtime, which […]

I haven’t posted a HS log lately so I thought I’d jot down some of what we’ve been doing. All the birthdays took up most of last week but a lot of neat stuff has gone on…
Science:
We’ve seen “our” beaver several more times since that first visit and now we slow down the […]

Today I took my girls to homeschool swimming. I watched them fling themselves into the water again and again– swimming, diving, splashing and playing like they had been born in the water.
They weren’t always so fearless. These are girls who cried when water ran down their foreheads in the bathtub when they were toddlers. These […]

We started today cleaning up the wetland we adopted. Daryl took the kids out there for about an hour before they came back for more garbage bags and a quick snack. I joined them at that point and we cleaned for the next 2 hours. All total, we covered about 3/4 of […]

We decided to nix soccer after all, for a multitude of reasons. Among them…
Victoria would have to give up the Joyful Girls club she just joined because it meets on Mondays when she’d have soccer practice.
Anna would miss Monday practices because of gymnastics.
We’d have to skip the Swan Release program we take part in every […]
