I’m a 40-something homeschooling mother of 5 (ages 13, 11, 8, 4 and infant) in rural Minnesota, madly in love with my goofy lug of a husband. Ten words to describe me– messy, silly, talkative, artisitic, happy, maternal, domestic, opinionated, child-sized and curious.
I also write a Homeschooling column here, an Attachment Parenting column here, and a Green Living site here (oh, and now a National Attachment Parenting column here!) plus run the site A Magical Childhood and the Magical Childhood Blog. It does seem a bit excessive, doesn’t it?
Here’s a nearly normal picture of the whole lot of us (from a couple of years ago now!).

Updated with a picture of Baby Fiona!

Yes, that’s you! (I should know!)
Hi I love the way you’ve introduced yourself and like your site. Thanks for the look at the garden lapbook. From Sharelle
You have such beautiful pictures on your site. I happen to think Minnesota is one of the most beautiful places. I’m glad to be back here. Thanks for sharing!
You have a wonderful blog , I found it so interesting I am coming back to have another look soon .
Hi There,
I just saw this post and picture.

Hi there, just noticed your blog when looking over some homeschooling news (a custom news item I added to my google news page) and thought i would say Hello and mention that your blog and all the nice articles really helped my perspective as a homeschooling dad. Sometimes I struggle with the “mess” of a homeschoolign household (also we have 4 children, 3 boys 14, 12, 10 and a daughter 7 almost 8). I hope to be able to embrace the craziness a little more! Keep up the good work!
Thanks Jason! Nice to meet you. And yes, I think life is just easier when you embrace the craziness!
Hi Alicia,
Thanks for the stop by and comment! I hope you love the twice baked gnocchi as much as we do. I used to live in rural MN before Seattle… hang in there, the MN paradise of spring, summer and autumn are on their way soon
Hi Alicia,
Thank you for your kind welcome on mnlhs. I love your site and your approach to homeschooling and life in general!

Hi Alicia! I have oh so loved your blog for years – your ‘kicked off the list’ post got me started. So I have ‘given’ you a Beautiful Blogger Award on my blog. You can come have a boo, or just know that you are in my top 7 despite never hearing from me. I promise to comment more. I am forever in your debt for the insight you provide and the resources I have gleaned from you over the years. Thank you!
Stacey
Aw, thank you! I just went and read your blog and am so glad to meet you. Huge smiles here.
