Hip Hop Curriculum

Flocabulary is an interesting new resource for teachers that uses hip hop songs, videos and study guides to teach everything from math facts to science to Shakespeare to U.S. history. There are a number of videos and songs you can view/hear for free.
I’m not sure it would be a good fit for my kids and some seems geared towards older kids (like the Poe stories, which are a bit gruesome and scary), but the songs really are catchy and I learned a bit from a few of them. The Asia rap and accompanying study guide page seemed really well done, for instance. I didn’t know some of the terms before.
The materials are designed for classroom use but you can order a CD for each subject with student guide for around $19. If you have kids who learn well through this sort of method or really like hip hop, it could be a neat resource.
