Camping Party

Victoria is having a camping party tomorrow at a park in a nearby city. She wanted to camp out for her birthday this year but with 3 birthdays in one week and it being the beginning of May in Minnesota, that just didn’t seem like a grand idea to my mind. We promised she’d get a camping party sometime this summer and tomorrow is the day.
It should be a great time and I’m already exhausted. 
Guests include one mama and her 3 kids, one mama and her 2 kids, one mom and dad and their 2 kids, our family and two little girls.
They also include vegetarians, vegans, omnivores and two families with food sensitivities/preferences (all natural for one, severe allergy to food coloring for the other) plus Jack’s peanut allergy. Oy!
(For the record, our own family has/had vegan, vegetarian, omnivore, all natural, allergy and Feingold stuff going on at various times so I’m not complaining. Planning for all of it at once can test your hostess skills though!)
The food issue has very nearly made my brain explode but I think I have dinner, dessert, snacks, beverages and breakfast planned to make everybody happy. Yay me!
We shopped today and Daryl made lists. Daryl makes awesome camping lists. Without them, we end up camping with clothes for two of the kids, 3 bottles of organic ketchup and hair conditioner. Sadly, that is just barely an exaggeration.
Tonight I have to pack clothes, toiletries, food, tents, sleeping bags… and a billion other things that I’m already too tired to list.
That said, I’m looking forward to it. We have fabulous friends joining us and the weather promises to be lovely. If we get anything short of monsoons, I’ll be happy.
I hope that you have a blast. I have found that since we have gone vegetarian that it is a little bit tougher to plan our camping trips. I knpw that you will get this too late, but we found that pancakes are great when reheated over the campfire. We also took hard-boiled eggs and warmed them over the fire while our coffee cake was warming up as well.
It was WONDERFUL!!!!!!! We had a fabulous FABULOUS time! It will remain one of our favorite memories. Thank you, thank you!!
