Sale on Educational Magazines for Kids
Jul 5th, 2008 by Alicia
Cricket is running a special of $6 off magazine subscriptions for any of their children’s magazines, which include Babybug, Cricket, Muse, Calliope and lots more. They have magazines for various age groups from toddlers to teens and they have different focuses, like literature, history or science.
Victoria and Anna both have subscriptions and they love them. I can’t say enough about them. They have no ads, great writing, humor, interesting articles, cartoons, stuff by kids and more. They do a really good job of being educational without being dry, and making the material seem cool and fascinating.
The only down side for us is that my girls like them so much they’re possessive about them and don’t want to let each other read them. <rolling eyes> They sneak looks at each other’s when they can!
Victoria gets Cricket, which has a lot of literature, biography and history (and also runs contests for photography and writing that the kids can enter). Anna gets Ask!, which has a lot of science, history and nature. I’m subscribing to one more each today and may get one for Jack, too, who currently gets a couple of different ones.
And no, I get no kickbacks for praising them! :) I just find them really useful for our homeschool. They run a little high compared to other children’s magazines (normally around $32 for 9 issues) so I always wait till they run sales to subscribe. It’s still a little higher than some of the fluff you can get, but I think it is well worth it. I consider it part of our curriculum, though the kids don’t know it!
