Plans for the day

We’re planning to get together with another HS family at a nearby state park today.  There’s a lot to explore and some fun places there, so it should be a nice day.  The weather is a bit surly right now so hopefully it won’t storm!
Other plans for the day…

Working on the gardens with the kids […]

Jack and I played this reading game this morning. It was quick and easy and he enjoyed it.
All I did was rip some scrap paper in half and write labels on each for common objects: ball, spoon, book, paper, block, frog, hippo, feather, glue, pen and so on.
We laid them out in […]

The site was down last night so I didn’t get to do FDF last night. Nonetheless, I’m posting random embarrassing stuff just for you!
This week– the world’s wonkiest living room.

Two paths, same view

Yesterday, my kids and I got together with another HS family.  We’ve known them for almost 7 years now and we always enjoy the times we can get together.

A little of what we’ve been up to lately…
Social Studies

Jack, Anna, Victoria and I watched “IMAX: The Eight Greatest Places on Earth” about the Amazon river, Tibet, Greenland and other amazing places.  We learned a lot about everything from the rainforest to prayer flags to lemurs.
Anna and I are still reading “Pollyanna” at bedtime, which […]

Victoria ran her lemonade and brownie stand from 10 a.m. until 3:45 p.m. today. Other than a few breaks where her sister manned it so she could run to the bathroom or grab a bagel, she sat at it all day.
It started slow, with hardly anybody passing for the first hour. Then people […]

Victoria asked permission to run her own lemonade stand tomorrow and I told her okay.  She’s been planning it for a few days now and today we walked downtown to the grocery store for her to buy her supplies.
Things learned so far….

Math:  She kept a running total of how much she had spent in the […]
