My invisible daughter-in-law
May 20th, 2008 by Alicia
Jack has had an invisible family for quite some time. They’re an odd bunch. His invisible mother was in jail for a while and his invisible father drank a lot of beer. I’m not sure what it means if a child creates an imaginary dysfunctional family! In any case, we’d all sort of gotten used to hearing about his invisible parents and all the stuff they let him get away with.
It seems my baby is growing up, though! This week he got married. I didn’t even know he had an invisible girlfriend.
Yep, Jack married his invisible girlfriend in our back yard 3 days ago. Anna was the only guest. She served grass to the (presumably invisible) guests.
His new wife is named (ahem) Eggnut.
She wears a blue shirt with a pocket on the front that says “Put your special things here.”
I still can’t tell people that without cracking up. Put your special things here! Tee hee.
But guess what?! I’m a grandma! Jack and Eggnut had their first child the day after the wedding. Her name is Rosie and she ages a month every day.
Jack, Eggnut and Rosie seem very happy. I feel very old and bewildered.
Too funny! Dylan used to make up stories too when he was really little about 3 guys named Jackson, Peteson, and Paco. One of them used to drive down our road on a tractor and he was always drunk. Bewildering, yes, because we honestly had never even had a drink anywhere near him! I do think he must have gotten bits of conversation about our old neighbor but the stories were pretty humorous and surprisingly looong and involved and now that you reminded me of them I have an ache. Geez, I miss hearing those tales!
Eggnut, huh? That’s a good one! Atleast he didn’t name her Egghole. There was a mean bully of a kid back in elementary school and that was his favorite thing to call people!!
Enjoy the new grandbaby. They *do* grow up fast! ;o)
