5 Creative Writing Prompts

I gave the girls this list of creative writing ideas to choose from and write a blog page about. Just thought I’d share it in case others were looking for new ideas….
- Write a blog entry as a character from a historic fiction book like “Little House on the Prairie” or “Sadie Rose.” Talk about what your day was like, including details like what you wore, what you ate and challenges you faced that day. You can make it up or base it on something that really happened in the book.
- Write a news story about an alien who visited our town with a surprising (and funny) quest.
- Using a real animal reference book for examles, write up an entry about an imaginary animal. Be sure to include the animal’s diet, size, behavior and everything you’d find in a real animal guide.
- Randomly open up a large book, close your eyes and put your finger on a word. Write down that word and repeat until you have 10 words written down. Write a one page (or more) story that uses all of those words.
- Rewrite a fairy tale with a new ending.
