Update on our day in the life…
Apr 20th, 2008 by Alicia
Yesterday we followed a school-at-home schedule that I found online, as part of an experiment to show Anna that her life as she leads it is actually pretty darn good. As expected, she ended up hating it and begging for her old life back. As suspected, Victoria loved it by the end of the day. She’s now begging for a scheduled life more often (chores and all!).
Our scheduled day only lasted until 3, at which point Daryl spirited the kids away for 3 hours of meeting baby goats, watching birds, playing at the lake and seeing friends. By the time they got back the schedule was all out of sorts, much to Victoria’s dismay. She still ended up trying to stick to it as much as she could, down to the bath and then bed earlier than usual.
She asked me before bed if I could try to find a nine year old’s typical schedule for her to do (she doesn’t really need phonics time slots!). She really wanted to do it all over again today, but we all slept in until 10. Or rather, baby and I slept in until 4 when he decided he was ready to meet the world. I finally got him back to sleep and then Jack slept in until 6 when he wanted to crawl into bed with us and then Anna had a nightmare at 7 and brought her pillow and blanket to the floor by the bed. Then we all slept in until 10!
I’m going to tell Victoria that it’s Sunday and those typical schedules would say to rest. ![]()
